Recreation Ground – new Accessible Secure Swing unveiled

On Saturday 28th March 2026, at exactly one minute before the 4pm scheduled cutting of the tape, a bitterly cold heavy shower of rain blew down on those assembled to formally open the new accessible multifunctional & disability swing in our Recreation Ground.

Undaunted, the chosen few huddled together as the blue tape was cut and the first ride took place.

The “Swing Seat Mirage” with safety harness is by Hags the playground equipments supplier. It’s an accessible and ergonomic option designed to provide extra support, comfort, and ease of use, allowing children of all abilities to enjoy the thrill of swinging.

This new facility is a welcome addition to our play area, and was paid for by the Ashby Rotary Impact Group to our Recreation Ground Charity – which was formerly the Robert Breedon Charity.

For 63 years now this charity, whose trustees are out Parish Councillors, has been responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the Recreation Ground.
