Lower Packington Road Planning Inquiry – 24 Sep 2014

Packington Nook Residents Association (PNRA) letter – extracts:

The Planning Inquiry for Lower Packington Road has been set to start on Wednesday 24 September at 10am at Whitwick Business Centre, Stenson Road, Coalville LE67 4JP.  We expect the inquiry to last for a few days.

Please save this date for your diary.  Even though it is in Coalville we want to see a BIG turnout of supporters please!  Bring your friends and neighbours and share cars where possible.  Show them that this matters.  It is not clear yet when PNRA will be called to give evidence, but we will let you know the agenda closer to the time.

The appellant (Hallam Land), the Council and PNRA are parties at the inquiry.  We have also learned that Leicestershire County Council will be a party, but only to make sure that contributions to areas such as education are provided in the event that planning permission is granted.

Our evidence is in support of the Council’s refusal to grant permission on the grounds of unsustainability and harm to the character of the town.  When we come to present our evidence, it will be cross examined by Hallam’s lawyers, but we are also able to cross examine their witnesses.  So you can imagine there is still a lot of work for us to do.

You can view the parties’ statements and our evidence as follows:

 APPEAL FOR HELP!

As well as wanting you to come and support us, we have some work to do in preparing a pedestrian survey to see how many people are using the footpaths between Lower Packington Road and the junction with Avenue Road.  Obviously a good time for this would be school journey times between about 8am and 9.30am and 2.30pm and 4pm.  Please step forward now if you could (a) organise this survey for us or (b) assist with the collection of data.

Committee for 2014-15.

Chairman: Nigel Garnham, Hon Treasurer: Susan Boardman-Weston, Committee members: John Trinick, Brian Everitt, Chris Tandy.

REMEMBER

If Hallam win this appeal, not only will 70 houses be built on the land at Lower Packington Road, it will then be very difficult to resist development of the whole Packington Nook site all the way across to Measham Road and down to the A42.  So we need your help and support at this vital time.
