Please be our new Parish Councillor – yes, please, YOU.. it’s urgent, now:

Please would you stand for election to our Packington Parish Council?

PLEASE?  By This Friday 22nd June at 4 pm?

OR, please would you nominate a friend or neighbour?

You have until this Friday, 22nd June 2018, at 4pm, to deliver your nomination and consent forms to District Council at Coalville – and there’s FREE  parking outside the District Council Offices there, to help you.  That’s THIS COMING FRIDAY.  Yes, by 4 pm.

Packington Post has already published the forms pack for you – at https://packington.info/bloggle/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/02a-Nomination-Pack-Parish.pdf

All the other information you need is here, on this prior Packington Post page. It tells you what you need to be, to stand. It also tells you what you mustn’t be, to stand. Other really gripping stuff is there, too.  Meanwhile, the official Notice of Election is copied at the bottom of this page, and a photo of it is at right.

Please – print off those forms, NOW.

If you stand, get two neighbours to propose you and second you, and sign that you consent. If you nominate someone else, they just need to consent to being nominated and you can get a third person to second them.  At Coalville, the people in the legal services department at District Council are just SO HELPFUL – if you have any doubts about form-filling, they’ll advise you. They’re happy to look up your electoral number for you. They’ll talk over any queries you have – phone them in advance, on 01530 454503, ask for “Democratic Services”. Then, just DELIVER THOSE FORMS to them, BY FRIDAY. Yes, by 4pm on Friday. Yes, THIS FRIDAY. Yes, FREE PARKING for 30 minutes outside.

Please Stand. Help us have a strong, balanced Parish Council.

Please?

There’s a Vacancy – Could YOU be our new Parish Councillor ?

Casual Vacancy – there is likely to be an election

In Packington Post out this week, there is a resignation statement from one of our 6 Parish Councillors, reproduced below.  This gives our village an opportunity to elect a new councillor to serve on our Parish Council.

Could this be YOU?

The 6-member council controls a tax-precept budget of £25,000, plus grants from a solar farm fund, and two village charities. Planning applications for the village are first scrutinised by the parish councillors. The council employs a clerk, meets once a month on the first Tuesday, and holds an Annual meeting.

YOU might fill the vacancy if 10 electors call for an election, before Thursday 7th June, which we understand to be likely.  If not, the parish council can co-opt an elector to serve with them, and that could be YOU as well, if you make your wish known.

It could be valuable for someone new to sit on our Parish Council, perhaps to bring a fresh viewpoint to this important body. How do YOU feel?

You can learn more about our Parish Council on their website (alas, old technology, expensive, too, but may not display well or at all on your phone). Below is the official notice of Vacancy.

Interested?  You can contact  Mrs Karen Edwards, Clerk to the Parish Council, as below:

Road Works in Ashby for 6 weeks from Saturday 24th March

They’re going to fix the Gas Mains near Royal Hotel in Ashby

For 6 weeks from next Saturday 24th March,  the red bit on the map – Station Road and Tamworth Road (just from Avenue Road) – will be ONE-WAY INTO ASHBY ONLY, so we won’t be able to drive to Lower Packington Road from Ashby Market Street. The green bit on the map – last bit of Lower Packington Road – will be ONE-WAY OUT OF ASHBY ONLY.

Most of us will choose to drive home up Market Street and turn right at the traffic lights into Old Leicester Road, then turn right down Upper Packington Road back to our village.

The 6 weeks ends on 4th May 2018. Here’s the official notice: Continue reading ‘Road Works in Ashby for 6 weeks from Saturday 24th March’ »
