Cricket Club Fun Quiz Night – Saturday 16th April 2016

2016 Quiz FlyerThis year’s Packington CC Fun Quiz Night will be held on Saturday 16th April 2016 at Packington Memorial Hall, 7-30pm for an 8-00pm start. Entry is for teams of 4 players, and the cost per team is £12 – yes that’s right, £3 per head for an evening’s entertainment, you can’t say fairer than that!!

We will have the usual mix of questions.  As ever there will be a licensed bar to help oil the wheels & cogs of your brains as you attempt to answer the questions. It’s all light-hearted though, we aim to keep the emphasis on the “fun” aspect of the evening!

All proceeds from this event go into the Cricket Club’s funds to help pay for ground and equipment maintenance, club insurance, etc.

So to book your team’s place, phone Giles Bee on 07950 574204 or email gilesbee@hotmail.co.uk.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

2016 Packington Big Breakfast – Saturday 5th March

Packington’s Big Breakfast Again in 2016!

Saturday 5th March 2016 9 am to 1 pm

Hospice Hope has been chosen as the charity to benefit from this year’s Big Breakfast at the Packington Memorial Hall on Saturday 5th March, from 9am through to 1pm.  This fantastic event, which is now in its fifth year, is a chance to forget any New Year’s Resolutions or diet plans and enjoy a full English breakfast for a great cause in a friendly, social setting.20150228 Big Breakfast labelled exIMG_9157w500h479
The event is the brainchild of Mike Coke, who initiated the first Packington Big Breakfast in 2012 and raised funds for a Children’s charity, and again in 2013 for a national cancer charity.  150 breakfasts were dished up then, but it was felt that the idea could be put to better use for local projects.  So in 2014, over £1,400 was raised to provide Packington with its own defibrillator and in 2015 another 300 breakfasts raised £1,400 to send a local boy with muscular dystrophy for specialised treatment in Scotland.
You don’t have to live in Packington to support the event – but it is heart-warming that the village does turn out in full for a good fry-up!  A full English is only £6 (£3 for children) or just have a bacon/sausage bap for £3.  They also do takeaways!  No need to book, just pop along to the Village Hall in the centre of Packington. During the morning there will also be a chance to buy tickets for the big Packington Raffle, with its valuable prizes.

As you can expect with an event that is serving up a cooked breakfast every minute for four hours, the Big Breakfast is heavily reliant on volunteers Please help – Mike would love to hear from anyone who would be interested in helping out with taking orders, money, making drinks and plating up the food – his contact details are below.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday 5th March between 9am and 1pm.

If you are able to volunteer, even for just an hour, or for more information about the event, please email:  mike.coke@talktalk.net or ring him on 01530 560430.
