An award-winning folk duo are set to grace the stage at Packington Memorial Hall as they tour their brand-new album this October.

Ange Hardy & Lukas Drinkwater are two of this generation’s most in-demand performers. Ange has racked up countless awards for her songwriting and live performances, including a nomination at the 2015 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and three consecutive FATEA Magazine award wins. Ange’s last two studio albums – both featuring Lukas Drinkwater on double bass and backing vocals – appeared in The Telegraph’s “Best Folk Albums” lists for 2014 and 2015.

They perform live with a 27-string Salvi harp, three different Martin guitars, a parlour guitar, a double bass, an array of traditional whistles, an Indian shruti box and Irish bodhrán drum. Singing new material with a timeless English feel as well as number of reinterpreted traditional folk songs, Ange’s innovative and subtle use of loop pedals build layers of vocal harmony live from the stage.

Lukas brings a fresh angle and bolder sound to many of the songs, as well as allowing Ange to perform a number of songs from her albums that Ange hasn’t regularly performed as a solo artist.

Folk broadcaster Mike Harding referred to Ange as “one of the most interesting, powerful and talented singers and songwriters to come out of recent years” and her 2016 gigs with Lukas Drinkwater will serve to cement their position as two of this generation’s greatest performers.

Opening the evening will be Road Not Taken. The Bristol-based act will play traditional songs in their own unique, melancholy style, and feature amongst their number Ant Miles, who grew up in Packington before relocating to the West Country.
