They’re going to fix the Gas Mains near Royal Hotel in Ashby
For 6 weeks from next Saturday 24th March, the red bit on the map – Station Road and Tamworth Road (just from Avenue Road) – will be ONE-WAY INTO ASHBY ONLY, so we won’t be able to drive to Lower Packington Road from Ashby Market Street. The green bit on the map – last bit of Lower Packington Road – will be ONE-WAY OUT OF ASHBY ONLY.
Most of us will choose to drive home up Market Street and turn right at the traffic lights into Old Leicester Road, then turn right down Upper Packington Road back to our village.
The 6 weeks ends on 4th May 2018. Here’s the official notice:
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER:-
TAMWORTH ROAD AND STATION ROAD, ASHBY DE LA ZOUCH
Leicestershire County Council Highways has agreed to a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order at the above location.
Various restrictions will be in place whilst works on the gas main are being undertaken.

Station Road, Ashby de la Zouch will be temporarily one way into Ashby de la Zouch from Tamworth Road

Tamworth Road, Ashby de la Zouch will be temporarily one way into Ashby de la Zouch from the junction with Avenue Road

Lower Packington Road will be temporarily one way from the junction with Tamworth Road to the junction with Avenue Road

Temporary Prohibition of Waiting restrictions will be in place on Lower Packington Road, Avenue Road, Tamworth Road and Station Road as and when required for the duration of the works

Temporary Prohibition of left turn from South Street, Ashby de la Zouch onto Station Road

Temporary Prohibition of right turn form Wilfred Place, Ashby de la Zouch onto Station Road
The works will commence on Saturday morning 24th March and will take approximately six weeks.
The proposed alternative diversion route will be via Bath Street, Market Street, Wood Street, Nottingham Road, A511 and A42
Leicestershire County Council apologises for any inconvenience caused during these works.
