Easter Holidays: The Medical Unit is closed on Friday 14 April and Monday 17 April. We will be open on Saturday 15 April for emergencies between 8am and 11-50am. Please telephone first on 01530 270667. If you need advice or assistance while we’re closed, please call 111, or in the case of emergencies call 999.
Medical Student: During April we will have a medical student working at the Unit. The student will be in their 4th year, just one year from qualifying as a doctor. We aim to provide a useful wide experience of General Practice.
Vacancies at the Unit: We are currently advertising for a Practice Nurse (25 hours per week) and two temporary Receptionists (20 hours per week for twelve months). Adverts and application forms are on our website (www.meashamdoctors.co.uk
Patient Participation Group (PPG): If you live in Donisthorpe or Oakthorpe and are interested in becoming involved, please contact the Reception. Details of the PPG’s activities are on the MMU website. Our next meeting is on Wednesday 3 May at 7pm.
And finally … The MMU Bake Off: We’re really pleased to say that our recent Bake Off, held in memory of a former MMU staff member, raised a wonderful £200.69, for our chosen charity this year – local homeless. Many thanks to all staff who baked the cakes, and to the patients who bought them. Dr Moore won the bake off, and we’ll never hear the last of it until he’s poached by Channel 4!
To fill a Vacancy in the Parish of Packington
Dated 27th day of March 2017
C E FISHER Returning Officer
(Printed and ) Published by the Returning Officer, Council Offices, Coalville
A recent resignation of one of our 6 Parish Councillors gives an opportunity to elect a new councillor to serve on our Parish Council. Could this be YOU?
The 6-member council controls a tax-precept budget of £25,000, plus grants from a solar farm fund, and two village charities. Planning applications for the village are first scrutinised by the parish councillors. The council employs a clerk, meets once a month on the first Tuesday, and holds an Annual meeting – next on Tuesday 4th April 2017 at 7:15pm.
The resignation leaves a vacancy, which YOU might fill if 10 electors call for an election; if not, the parish council can co-opt an elector to serve with them, and that could be YOU as well, if you make your wish known.
At the recent Big Breakfast gathering, many villagers had no idea who were their councillors. Meanwhile, several said they would like to have someone who is NOT elderly and NOT male to sit on our Parish Council, and perhaps bring a fresh viewpoint to this important body. How do YOU feel?
Note that none of our present councillors was elected – they filled the vacancies in May 2015 without challenge. YOU may receive the same privilege..
You can learn more about our Parish Council on their website (alas, old technology, it may not work well on your phone). Below is the official notice of Vacancy, and you can download the form calling for an election. You can contact our helpful Parish Clerk:
