Dear Residents,<\/span><\/p>\n

My sons and I love living in Packington. It is a wonderful village for a young family like mine, but there is always room for improvement. I would like to contribute more to our community by working hard as your Parish Councillor.<\/span><\/p>\n

Having worked for many years as a childminder and a care worker for disabled and elderly adults I have built up a wealth of experience with young people, elderly people and families.
\nOver the last three years, I have been working as a volunteer in local schools whilst I gain my Teaching qualifications.
\nI have previously served as a North West Leicestershire District Council Councillor, gaining knowledge and experience as a member of the Planning Committee and The Ashby Woulds Youth Group and attended various training courses within the council. I have built good working relationships within North West Leicestershire District Council alongside providing a strong voice for local residents.<\/p>\n

If elected, I will work hard to:<\/span>
\n\u2022 Ensure all sections of our community are fully represented
\n\u2022 Challenge inappropriate housing developments
\n\u2022 Provide a new younger more diverse approach to our Parish council
\n\u2022 Fight hard to minimise the impact of HS2
\n\u2022 Engage with all members of our community to help improve our Village<\/p>\n

PARISH COUNCIL ELECTION MAY 4th 2017<\/p>\n

My name is Keith Goodwin and I am a candidate in the forthcoming election of a Parish Councillor for Packington Parish. I have lived in the village for over 40 years since moving into Nethercroft Drive in 1974. Most village residents will know me as the chap who keeps ponies on Spring Lane. I am a Chartered Surveyor and an expert in valuing property, farms and land. I am familiar with the law relating to compulsory purchase and acquisition and the payment of compensation.<\/p>\n

You are concerned as a village with the coming of HS2. I will support the collective opposition to the HS2 project and the protection of the village from any route changes if the project continues. I will seek to ensure that HS2 causes the minimum disruption to the village during any construction period and that compensation is due to those villagers who are entitled to make a claim.<\/p>\n

You are concerned about the recent mini-crime wave involving burglaries to vacant properties. I will support any initiative by Neighbourhood Watch to protect our homes; whether by co-ordinated response and alerts to unusual activities, or by more overt surveillance methods adopting CCTV.<\/p>\n

You are also concerned with fly tipping in areas surrounding the village. I will seek to lobby the District Council to abandon charging for commercial waste at the Lount Disposal Site in order to mitigate fly tipping within the Parish.<\/p>\n
