Casual Vacancy – call for election BEFORE Friday 31st March 2017<\/span><\/h3>\n

A recent resignation<\/strong> of one of our 6 Parish Councillors gives an opportunity to elect a new councillor<\/strong> to serve on our Parish Council.\u00a0 Could this be YOU?<\/strong>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The 6-member council controls a tax-precept budget of \u00a325,000, plus grants from a solar farm fund, and two village charities.\u00a0 Planning applications for the village are first scrutinised by the parish councillors. The council employs a clerk, meets once a month on the first Tuesday, and holds an Annual meeting – next on Tuesday 4th April<\/strong> 2017 at 7:15pm.<\/span><\/p>\n

The resignation leaves a vacancy, which YOU might fill<\/strong> if 10 electors call for an election; if not, the parish council can co-opt an elector to serve with them, and that could be YOU<\/strong> as well, if you make your wish known.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the recent Big Breakfast gathering, many villagers had no idea who were their councillors.\u00a0 Meanwhile, several said they would like to have someone who is NOT elderly and NOT male<\/strong> to sit on our Parish Council, and perhaps bring a fresh viewpoint to this important body. \u00a0 How do YOU feel?
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Note that none of our present councillors was elected – they filled the vacancies in May 2015 without challenge.\u00a0 YOU may receive the same privilege<\/strong>..
